FITS File Basics | Astrophysics Research Basics Episode 5

Hiya! I'm Kylie, and I'm a current Astronomy PhD student at the University of Maryland. I was a 2022-2023 Fulbright Fellow in Japan, and I got my B.S. in Physics from MIT.

In this video I introduce FITS files, a common data type used in Astronomy research. I teach you how to import and obtain data from them using Python, and then show you how to view the data visually using DS9 and Qfits.
