On 9th October 2024 Iain Gunn of Gunn passed. Under the rules of Peerage his title passed to his son.

John the Younger succeeded him to become John Gunn of Gunn and Banniskirk.

On 5th April 2025 at the Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh a ceremony of Recognition was hosted by the Clan Gunn Society with the Lord Lyon presiding.

This video captures the evening. Ceremony was followed by dinner and dancing as is the custom in these parts.
