Kwasi Kwarteng says Trump turmoil is like 'deja vu all over again'

They infamously tanked the UK economy with their mini-budget in 2022.

Now ex-chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng has told Sky News Donald Trump's economic policies are going the same way as Liz Truss' attempt to reform the UK economy.

Mr Kwarteng's budget was undone by the UK bond market, and today the US president announced a 90-day pause in his tariffs as yields on US bonds also surged.

"I think he's gone full maximus in the way that we did, and what he's trying to do is essentially reshape the world order, and he has taken the view... to just do everything at once, to create maximum disruption," Mr Kwarteng said.

"And now he's rowed back."
