A 15-year-old boy, Mohammed Umar Khan, has been jailed for life (minimum 16 years) for murdering fellow student Harvey Willgoose, 15, at All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield.
Khan stabbed Harvey in the chest with a 13cm serrated hunting knife after a Snapchat argument. Pupils fled “in fear and panic” during the attack.
Video footage showed Khan dancing and waving the knife afterward. He told staff, “I’m not right in the head,” and later claimed he carried the weapon for protection from bullying.
The judge lifted Khan’s anonymity, saying his age wasn’t reason enough to protect his identity. She ruled the attack stemmed from anger and betrayal, not self-defence.
Harvey’s family vowed to campaign against knife crime, saying the murder had “destroyed” their lives.
