1972 Ferrari 312 B3 "Spazzaneve" F1 Car Driven on Track + On Board!!

This video is about a very special and unique Formula 1 car: the Ferrari 312 B3 "Spazzaneve". Given that the B3 had a very troubled genesis characterized by four different versions during its first season the "Spazzaneve" was the very first one.

It was designed by Mauro Forghieri and it has been unveiled in August 1972. Based on the 312 B2 it features tons of new solutions such as a very short wheelbase, the weights lowered and concentrated in the area of the gravity center, the radiators were installed on both sides of the cockpit and the very squared bodywork plus that wide front wing linked to the bodywork (from which the Italian terms "spazzaneve" comes from and it means "snow-plow"). But the car was quickly shelved and it never started a Grand Prix because due to it's measures it suffered of a continuous bad handling on long corners and on braking. Anyway this experimental project helped Forghieri to understand the "ground effect" before the real introduction of it.

The "Spazzaneve" remained just for a short time hidden behind the walls of Ferrari factory and it was sold to customer a few years later.

Watch it in action at Imola Circuit during the 2017 Historic Minardi Day and enjoy the beautiful melody of the 3.0-litre flat-12 engine doing some accelerations and fly-bys! In the second half of the video you can appreciate a few on board laps driven by Franco Meiners.
