More than one-third of oil tankers transporting Russian crude have reportedly come to a halt due to recent U.S. sanctions, as highlighted by a report from Reuters. Current data indicates that at least 65 oil tankers are stationary in waters near Russia, off the coast of Singapore, and near Chinese ports, according to MarineTraffic and LSEG.
These sanctions, imposed last week, target 183 vessels linked to a "shadow fleet" allegedly utilized by Russia to circumvent Western oil price caps. This action is part of ongoing efforts to reduce Moscow's energy revenues.
