Alimar Adaptation Florentino y el Diablo

Background: Los Llanos are a region in Venezuela that has a lot of popular myths surrounding it. Florentino y el Diablo is a LONG poem written by Alberto Arvelo Torrealba in the 1940s-50s. It is meant to be performed in song, and is written in an older, more formal spanish with some slang specific to the region. The popular music and dance around the area is called joropo, using the llanera harp, bandola, cuatro and maracas. Contrapunteo is basically rap battling, it has to be in a rhyming verse and you have to make it up in the moment. The poem is divided in two parts, el reto and la porfia before going into the actual contrapunteo, which most people just start here and skip the beginning.
I badly translated the first 2 parts and I found a video of someone who translated and performed the contrapunteo in english linked down below, otherwise its only in spanish.
And yes, it really is about a Guy who rap battles the devil a whole night and then in the morning basically goes "by the power of the saints and virgin mary, begone thot" and the devil just leaves(???)
