Countess Danielle Vaughn (born August 8, 1978) is an American actress, singer, and television personality. Born in Idabel, Oklahoma, Vaughn began her career at the age of three, singing in church. At age nine, she won the Star Search competition with her performance of "I'll Be There". She made her television debut in 1988, playing the role of Alexandria DeWitt on the sitcom 227.
In the 1990s, Vaughn appeared in such series as Thea, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, and Roc, and performed in the musical Mama, I Want to Sing! Part 3. In 1992, she released her debut album, Countess, which included dance and R&B songs. The album's lead single, a cover of James Brown's "It's A Man's, Man's, Man's World", charted in the top-100 of the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart; the album itself sold 3,000 copies.
She later played the role of Kim Parker in Moesha (1996–1999), a role for which she won an NAACP Image Award. She has appeared in films such as Trippin (1999) and series such as Cuts and Let's Stay Together. She later starred in the spin-off The Parkers (1999–2004), where she also performed the theme song
Countess has since given birth to her two children from her two marriages. She has struggled with health issues, including hair loss due to reactions to wig glue. In 2006, she appeared on Celebrity Fit Club, and in 2007 on Celebrity Rap Superstar. In 2014, she appeared on the reality show Hollywood Divas, where she revealed that she had an abortion at age 18 to protect her career.
Countess' most recent appearance was in 2023 in the comedy series "Harlem"
