The Konnon/Kono people in Gogota near Lola town in the southeast region of the Republic of Guinea (Guinea-Conakry).
The Konnon/Kono people are predominantly farmers. They grow rice, cassava, peanut, sweet potatoes, and vegetables (okra, piment, spinach, and eggplants) as well as commercial agricultural commodities such as coffee beans, cocoa beans and now natural rubber in their region.
The largest population of Konnon is based in Guinea and they are also in Sierra Leone, Cote d'Ivoire and Liberia. The Konnon/Kono people are in the same clan lineage with the Dan/Yacouba, Kpelle, Kissi, Toma, Mano and Gio.
Those are the ethnic groups who live around the massive Mt. Nimba range shared by Cote d'Ivoire, Liberia and Guinea.
Also in the Konnon culture, the masks play an important role. They are traditional artifacts used in various ceremonies and rituals, symbolizing cultural identity, spirituality, and social values in their society.
