Welcome to my needle felt sloth video tutorial and thank you for watching! This video is meant for beginners and intermediate level needle felters. I will teach you the basics of sculptural needle felting and introduce you to some advanced techniques. The tutorial covers constructing wire armatures, sculpting with wool and felting needle, using the felting needle to create fine details in both 2D and 3D, and creating realistic fur.
The houseplant sloth you'll be learning to make in this video is based on the brown-throated three-toed sloth, a native of the rainforests of Central and South America. Sloths have got life pretty well figured out. They move only as much and as quickly as absolutely necessary (which is to say not very much and not very quickly) because they live on a low energy diet of leaves. They basically have hooks for hands and feet so they can just hang from tree branches without using any muscle power whatsoever. The only reason they ever leave the treetops is to take their weekly poop. #lifegoals
Below is a link to an information sheet with the diagram from the video and a list of materials as well as links to Living Felt's and my own websites. If you have any questions about anything in the video or if any part of the sloth making process is giving you trouble please feel free to let me know in the comments and I will try to help. Good luck!
