Kerala will be declared a state free from extreme poverty today. It will become the first state in India to achieve this milestone. The announcement will be made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at a ceremony taking place this evening at Thiruvananthapuram Central Stadium. MP Kamal Haasan, actors Mammootty and Mohanlal, and several ministers will attend. Although the opposition has also been invited, the opposition leader is unlikely to participate.
