Chilla Nizamuddin Auliya refers to the 40-day spiritual retreat (chilla) that the famous Sufi saint, Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, spent in spiritual solitude and intense prayer, seeking a closer connection with the Divine. Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (1238–1325) was one of the most revered Sufi saints in India and was a key figure in the Chishti Order of Sufism. His tomb in Delhi, known as the Dargah of Nizamuddin Auliya, is a major place of pilgrimage for Muslims and people of all faiths.
The practice of spending a "chilla" (a period of spiritual retreat and worship) is common in Sufism, where the devotee isolates themselves for a certain period to engage in deep worship, prayer, meditation, and reflection. In the case of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, his chilla was part of his journey to attain divine closeness and spiritual enlightenment.
