Luke 1:1-4 NIV

1 Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

How do we know if Christianity is true? This is a question some people asks themselves, but Luke answers and gets straight to the point on what His gospel is all about. Luke 1:1–4 shows us the heart behind the Gospel of Luke. Luke didn’t write casually—he investigated carefully, gathered eyewitness accounts, and organized everything with purpose. He wanted Theophilus, and all who would read his words, to know that the story of Jesus is trustworthy, solid, and true. This passage reminds you that your faith is not built on rumors or feelings—it’s built on real history, real events, and real people who saw Jesus with their own eyes. Luke wrote so you could have confidence, certainty, and assurance in the truth of the gospel. Amen.
