Johann Wolfgang von Goethe famously described the string quartet as “a conversation among four intelligent people.” But how did 18th-century audiences actually experience this music? Dr. Klorman will take you inside the salons of Mozart and Haydn’s era to explore how these works were first performed, and how they transformed from intimate gatherings to grand public concerts.
