Synopsis:
A cheeky Cold War caper in which British agents smuggle a bugged dog into the Soviet Union to eavesdrop on top-secret conversations — only for the plan to go sideways when the canine is taken to a vet and the race begins to recover the transmitter before it betrays national secrets. A madcap blend of espionage and British wit, featuring Laurence Harvey, Daliah Lavi and Lionel Jeffries.

About the animation:
The film’s title sequences and brief animated inserts were produced by Richard Williams’ London studio. Williams’ team provided the design and animation for the opening/title work; while artists such as Errol Le Cain worked at Williams’ studio around this era, there is no definitive contemporary credit tying Le Cain directly to this film’s sequences.

Restoration note (please read):
We were unable to locate any surviving 35mm camera prints. The best surviving element we could obtain was a professional 1-inch videotape master preserved in London. One-inch tape masters are excellent for preservation but their native resolution is limited compared with 35mm film — practical captures typically top out between standard-definition and roughly 720p detail. Earlier commercial DVDs circulated from low-generation masters (commonly 480p) and in many cases were created from TV or tape transfers rather than fresh film scans.

Our team performed a careful digital restoration from the 1" master: cleaning, stabilization, color correction and high-quality upscaling. The result you see here is the highest-quality presentation possible from the elements we were able to source. If original 35mm negatives or prints are located in the future, we will pursue a full photochemical/4K film restoration.
