Homemade Everything Seasoning
Let’s make everything seasoning — that crunchy, savory blend you’ve seen sprinkled on everything from bagels to avocado toast. Sure, you can buy it in stores now, but it’s ridiculously overpriced for something this easy to make at home.
This DIY version uses simple pantry ingredients, takes less than five minutes, and follows a super easy ratio-based formula, so you can make as much or as little as you like. No additives, no fillers — just real, bold flavor that costs a fraction of the store-bought jars.
Keep a jar of this on hand for seasoning vegetables, toast, eggs, salads, or anything that needs a little crunchy, salty punch. Let's cook, y'all, we've got a family to feed!
Everything Seasoning
Ingredients (by weight or ratio):
16g (or 2 tablespoons) white sesame seeds
8g (or 1 tablespoon) black sesame seeds
8g (or 1 tablespoon) poppy seeds
8g (or 1 tablespoon) dried minced onion
8g (or 1 tablespoon) dried minced garlic
8g (or 1 tablespoon) kosher salt (or flaky salt like Maldon or Diamond Crystal)
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl or jar. Mix well and store in an airtight container. That’s it.
Notes:
The key is the ratio: use 2 parts white sesame seeds to 1 part everything else. Adjust the total quantity up or down based on how much you want to make.
Avoid table salt or iodized salt, which can make the blend too fine and harsh in flavor.
Use this blend on avocado toast, bagels with cream cheese, roasted veggies, popcorn, or even mixed into cream cheese or hummus for a quick dip.
