Just past fall foliage peak at the high summits but perfect from the summit of Mt Willard (2,865') in the center of Crawford Notch, with stunning views of the southern Presidentials and more - pretty much no matter what season, and a pretty easy hike (for New Hampshire!) . It's 1.6 miles and 900' of elevation change one way. But very gradual and not nearly as many rocks as you find elsewhere on the trails in the area. I got up it in 40 minutes. Your mileage may vary. I also got treated to a visit from the North Conway Scenic Railroad!
