Why go with a reborn over other dolls?

Why in the world did I invest in a reborn doll as a babywearing educator?

It actually needs supported! And that's one of the hardest things to show with a doll- it's so easy to forget to support a doll and see what level of support a real baby would receive if the doll holds itself up.

Also- many "reborn" dolls that you find on Amazon are apparently stolen artwork- and as someone who wants to support artists and legitimate businesses, it felt hypocritical to buy one of those to save money when encouraging people to buy quality products from the actual, safety tested brand and not options from Temu (especially when it comes to infant safety!)

Some of the knockoffs have also been shown to test incredibly high for toxic chemicals that could leech out or leave parts on my carriers (which my real life baby goes in.) I wanted to ensure my baby was not being risked.

Lastly, I wanted to ensure it was actually going to do what I needed it to. I needed the head to NOT support itself. I wanted the legs to be able to dangle, curl up, to into a nice m position, etc. And sit in the carrier as similar to a real baby as possible for demonstrating and testing carriers.

So - I think it turned out well. The delivery of this took quite a bit longer than anticipated, but in the end, I'm glad I supported a legitimate, local business (even with communication and timing issues.)
