On September 16, King Charles III made royal history by becoming the first British monarch in four centuries to attend a Roman Catholic funeral. His Majesty joined members of the royal family at Westminster Cathedral in London to say goodbye to Katharine, Duchess of Kent, who passed away on September 4 at the age of 92.
The funeral service was conducted by Cardinal Vincent Nichols, head of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. Also in attendance were Prince William and Princess Kate, while Queen Camilla was absent due to illness. The Duchess's coffin was later taken to Frogmore, near Windsor Castle, for burial.
