Reduction Firing Pottery in an Electric Kiln Using a Saggar

Here I make a second attempt to get decent reduction in an electric kiln using a saggar - a ceramic vessel that encloses the pot to allow the creation and retention of a carbon-rich atmosphere. It came out pretty well...

The glaze is Selsor chun with 1.5% red iron oxide (not 1% as I said in the video).

WARNING: Reduction in an electric kiln can harm the elements. It is important to seal the saggar lid in place and stop the carbon gases from leaking. Do not too much of this kind of firing or your elements might wear out more quickly. You attempt this technique at your own risk.
