I added a bit of 3/8" tubing in the convection zone right below the spiral coils. I also discovered that over the winter my Bridge rectifier had corroded and was shorting out the alternator. What a difference that makes.
This engine and alt will do about 165-220 watts. I have seen 6 amps and 28 volts. The pump uses about 30 watts and only comes on about every five minutes for about 20 seconds.
