In this month’s Art Talk, we reflect on closing out the year and preparing for what’s next—cleaning up, simplifying, and getting our ducks in a row for 2026. Our studios, and the spaces we work in, are a powerful metaphor for what we allow to come to fruition. The more clutter we carry, the harder it is to create something new.
We also talk about the pressure to make work that sells—following trends, color palettes, and expectations—and why our strongest work so often comes from not painting for the audience.
