The immersion. A Marimba show at the National Arts Festival 2025, hosted by te Black power station.

A display of True African polyrhythms through marimba playing. We explore the southern region of Africa and bring out the spirit of Ubuntu. The goal of this project is to create and perform pieces that are imbued with the spirit of indigenous Southern African music making as taught to us by our forefathers through using the oral tradition of learning and passing on knowledge. This performance is more than a homage to our forefathers, it is an appreciation of the centuries-old tradition of knowledge being passed from one generation to the next through oral recounting.

Our mission is to transport audiences on an immersive journey to Southern Africa through the captivating Rhythms of the region. With a fusion of Africa's unique instruments, such as the mbira and marimba, we bring forth the rich traditions and rhythms that define our
heritage. The melodious voices become the vessel through which diverse emotions and societal issues are expressed within our story.

Our main aim is to create a social commentary production that delves into various topics impacting everyday life. We shall shed light on the expectations placed upon communities, the challenges faced by the girl and boy child, and the vibrant celebrations of song and dance.

It is a transformative experience, offering a true essence of Southern Africa without the need to physically be present in all countries . Our show
encompasses a range of emotions, from love and pain to struggle, survival, strength, and pure joy. We weave together harmonious songs, compelling monologues, intricate polyphonic rhythms, and mesmerizing dance to create a mesmerizing spectacle. It is an unforgettable showcase that celebrates the beauty of our culture and invites audiences to witness the depth of our shared human experiences.
