The B-17 was comissioned by Nikos of the "Fred Coningsby " YouTube channel , to illustrate a story of Chivalry and compassion during WW 2 . ( To be streamed CHRISTMAS DAY !) "Ye Olde Pub" was flown by Cpt. Charlie Brown , 379th Bombardment group , the Me-109 by veteran Luftwaffe pilot Franz Stiegler of Jagdgeshwader 27 . Stiegler was sent up to intercept Brown's plane , when he did so he said he had never seen such a badly damaged plane still flying ! and instead of opening fire he escorted them all the way to the coast to keep them safe .....................................................the 2 men met in later life and became great friends , they had been living less than 200 miles apart .
This is a great kit , instructions not so , confusing if you follow them , but luckily had parts to build the "F" , without the chin turret . Brush painted , no filler , Streets ahead of the Revell Memphis Belle I built in '66 . Special decals were a nightmare , I had to order a replacement set , they had the consistency of a soap bubble stretched and then fragmented . not recommended ! Luckily the kit stars and bars went down without any trouble . I found it quite liberating to build and then partly destroy a model , hope you like the result .
