Australia Part 7 Intro: driving through fire to get to Pine Creek's Hooded Parrots...

After our boat cruise on Yellow Waters we ate brunch at Cooinda Lodge before returning to Crocodile Hotel for a late'ish checkout. Then it was time for the drive to Pine Creek, during which we were introduced to the somewhat infamous fires... A rather unpleasant, and, at a few times scary experience! Mostly uneventful, though, except one had to be vigilant regarding the raptors flocking around the numerous roadkills.
We arrived without problem to Pine Creek in the afternoon and checked in at Lazy Lizard. Then we took a stroll in a park opposite the road/street and found a flock of our Target Bird: Hooded Parrot. Also a tree with roosting Black Flying Fox, always nice with a new bat!
