La La Land - Frames of Influence (4K)

The cinematography of “La La Land,” by Linus Sandgren, has significantly influenced my visual style. I typically like to watch movies without knowing anything about them before they begin. Somehow, I managed to see “La La Land” in the theatre without knowing it was a musical! I found out very quickly when the film unapologetically threw me into an incredibly dynamic spectacle where the camera visited every single place imaginable. The film’s vibrant colour palette, sweeping camera movements, and dynamic lighting create a sense of romance and nostalgia that is truly captivating. Sandgren’s work seamlessly blends the look of classic Hollywood musicals with a modern sensibility, making each scene visually stunning and emotionally resonant. His ability to use light and colour to enhance the storytelling has inspired me to incorporate more bold and expressive visuals in my own projects. With this series, I hope to share these magical visual influences with others.
