Very typical for the Dutch language is: the end of a word is always pronounced voiceless (you write 'hond', but say /hont/ ; you say 'huizen' with a /z/, but it is one 'huis' with an /s/). This rule is clear and simple explained in this video.
Wich letters do change? How does this rule work in pronounciation and how in spelling? What is important to know about nouns, and about verbs?
To learn more about this aspect of the Dutch language, you can find more information in de video "Verbs (1/6): Weak verbs" and in "Syllables in Dutch". All spoken and written in Dutch, with English subtitles. Enjoy this free online Dutch lesson!
