My Romanian Riding Adventure Day 6 – Mountain Mornings, Meadow Rides & Wild Bear Watching

After a very rough night in my tent, I’ll admit I looked a bit worse for wear! But waking up to those breathtaking mountain views made it all worth it. Day 6 of our riding holiday in Romania started early, with coffee in the meadow and the sun rising over the Carpathians.

We rode higher into the mountains, with some of the most stunning scenery of the week, before stopping for a peaceful picnic in an alpine meadow, surrounded by silence and birdsong. It was the perfect farewell to our camping adventure.

In the afternoon, we returned to Equus Sylvania, where the horses got a well-deserved rest – but the day wasn’t over yet. That evening, we were driven to a wild bear hide, deep in the forest, to watch Romania’s brown bears in their natural habitat.

These bears are fed nightly to discourage them from entering nearby villages – giving us a rare and ethical opportunity to observe them up close. It was utterly magical.
