Ptosis (Drooping Eyelid) | Eye Anatomy, Causes, Associated Conditions, Diagnosis & Treatment

Ptosis (also known as blepharoptosis) is an ophthalmological condition involving a drooping (lowered) upper eyelid that in some cases can cause mild to severe vision impairment. In this lesson, we discuss the eye anatomy, including the important muscles involved in lifting the eyelid (the muscles that get affected in ptosis), along with the different causes and associated conditions; we also discuss how ptosis is diagnosed and how it’s treated.
