Comparing & Remixing FF4's Final Battle Theme: 7 Versions Across SFC, DS, Remaster & More!

I compared the final boss battle theme “The Final Battle” from Final Fantasy IV across various versions: Super Famicom (PS1), WonderSwan, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS (PSP), and Pixel Remaster, and created remixes using these different sound sources. I also introduce seven alternative arrangements from other games outside of FF4, and picked some of those sound sources for additional remixes at the end.

This heroic song is a signature of FF4. Every time I hear it, it reminds me of Zeromus’s "Big Bang." What’s interesting about this track is its unique structure—only the first half plays once, and then the second half loops repeatedly. Most game music either loops back to the beginning or skips a few bars of intro, but it’s rare to find a song where only half keeps looping. I realized this myself while working on the remix.

This video also features “The Final Battle” from non-FF4 games as a special segment, collecting only unique arrangements—seven in total. Since too many sources in one remix can get overwhelming, I picked a few and combined them for a more enjoyable remix experience. I tried to choose sources that blend well and sound interesting together. I hope you enjoy it!

As for the thumbnail image, of course, I had to go with “Zeromus,” shown in various versions—Super Famicom (PS1/GBA/Pixel Remaster) on the left, followed by PSP and then Nintendo DS.
