SOPHIA FLOERSCH - Cockpit view of my LMP2 with Richard Mille Racing in ELMS and 24h Le Mans

In of my latest videos on YouTube, my explanation of the FIA F3 steering, I promised to also show you the Cockpit of the LMP2 I raced this year. We participated in European Le Mans Series and 24H of Le Mans with Richard Mille Racing Team. Maybe some of you are using a LMP2 car or an FIA F3 at iRacing, RF2 (rFactor 2) or Assetto Corsa Competizione. Or on PlayStation.
As Endurance Racing is different to Formulas, there is also a lot more buttons to use. In FIA F3 there are just the usual buttons like Radio, Pit Limiter and VSC which you are using a lot.
But in the LMP2 it’s a lot more. We use Traction Control a lot. Two different rotaries with each one having 12 different options. The older the tires the higher you go in the setting. Always depending on car balance and track feeling. Cause you have live data in endurance, the team sees everything. They control everything and see if you change something and they can also immediately tell you what to do if there are any issues. Even after one season of driving there are buttons I sometimes have to press but not knowing what it actually does. You just have to follow what the engineer says.
When I started with endurance I thought it would be more chilled in the races cause you have to do fuel and tire management. Especially in a 24h race. But it’s actually everything but chilled 😅. You are pushing like crazy the whole time. With traffic you HAVE TO be focused each lap. The better you are in overtaking and dealing with traffic the better you’re lap times are. Of course depending on the track, there is places and sectors where it is easier and places where it’s difficult. Monza for example is pretty easy. You have many long straight and not so many corners. But than Portimao is a nightmare! So many corners, especially combined ones. Having a GTE or LMP3 infront of you at the wrong place definitely is hurting.
To do a 24h race is AMAZING! It’s not just being awake and full of adrenaline for such a long time. It’s also about all the things you have to take into account. Weather, the behaving of other drivers, strategy, LUCK, pace, traffic, no technical issues and so on. We were really lucky this year. Finishing P9 in our category in our first 24h race. There is hopefully a lot more to come 🏁
