Livermore Fil-Am Scholarship Awards Event 2021

The Livermore Filipino-American Organization 2021 scholarship program recognizes local Filipino-American high school seniors. Their academic and extra-curricular achievements are a testament to the intelligence, discipline and hard work that will surely get them ready for their chosen college course and beyond.
For the first time in Livermore Fil-Am’s history, the Crisanta Gallardo Legacy Scholarship was presented, in memory of Mrs. Crisanta Gallardo, the first female president of the Livermore Filipino-American Organization from 1977-1979. This scholarship was based on the graduating 2021 senior’s volunteer hours with the organization preCOVID19 years.
On May 22nd, Livermore Fil-Am held a two-part event. In the morning, winners were paid individual visits by officers to congratulate them and hand over their cash prize. Afternoon online festivities, hosted by Arthur Barinque, included performances and guest speakers. The winners also took turns to present themselves and be recognized by the community. Raquel Holt, a longtime member and former chair of the scholarship committee, was also recognized for her service and dedication to the organization.
The Livermore Fil-Am Organization, a non-profit group founded in 1967, aims to enhance unity and friendship among Filipino-Americans within Livermore, CA and its surrounding areas. The organization is dedicated to promote the Philippine culture through cultural, social and community-oriented programs.
