There are approximately two million acres of forages and one million acres of cereals baled each year in Ontario, often as large round or square bales that are intended for on-farm use or for sale both locally and as exports. Hay can be grown to increase organic matter in soil and reduce the effects of compaction. It must be harvested and stored correctly, as failure to do so reduces the value of the end product. Bale wrapping technology has advanced to help guard hay quality. Making hay is a critical task, and one that can be made less stressful with the appropriate equipment.
Baling equipment has become more sophisticated, with faster machines and more control over bale density and size. The Advancements in Bale Wrapping Technology Demo will show farmers new options available for producing large bales. Features like on-the-go bale ejection, on-the-go wrapping, automatic density control, bale identification and ease of loading net wrap and plastic wrap will be highlighted during this demo.
