On August 21, a convoy of over 20 overland rigs departed from Manila, heading to Catanduanes, affectionately known as the "Happy Island" or the "Land of the Howling Wind" due to its eastern location. This extraordinary journey, organized by Mototesto Overland, spanned nearly one week and took participants through diverse terrains, rewarding them with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and unforgettable sunrises. Participants shared what drives them to join such adventures and what they had to say about this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The smiles that greeted the travelers made it clear why Catanduanes is known as the Happy Place. In a gesture of goodwill, the group donated 30 radios to local guides, enhancing their ability to connect and share experiences with others.

Each day was filled with activities, from trekking along pristine beaches to navigating rocky trails. Evenings provided opportunities for bonding with family and friends, both old and new, fostering a strong sense of community among participants.

A standout moment of the trip was the visit to Binurong Point, located in Brgy. Guinsaanan, Baras, Catanduanes. This stunning attraction, reminiscent of landscapes in Batanes, is easily accessible from Brgy. Guinsaanan Proper. The name "Binurong," which refers to the local practice of preserving fish and means "healed" in Bicol, adds cultural richness to its natural beauty.

Overall, this journey was more than just an adventure; it was a celebration of community, culture, and the stunning landscapes of the Philippines. Through their efforts, Tim and Janice hope to inspire more Filipinos to embrace the overlanding lifestyle and explore the wonders of their own country.
