Recreating Black Gilded Age Fashion: An 1890s Walking Suit for the 2022 Met Gala

This is the one where I pretend I was invited to this year's Met Gala. With the theme of Gilded Glamour (white tie), I wanted to tick something off of my project bucket list which is this early 1890s walking suit inspired by a photograph of an unnamed African-American woman of the time. Last year's beige carpet was interesting for several reasons but I felt it would be best to reference the forgotten and sidelines women of colour of the period who have propably contributed much more to culture than we'll ever know.
