As a field technician working on platforms like Field Nation, WorkMarket, Cloud Work Pro, or with direct clients, I often faced the hassle of printing paperwork to meet client requirements. To solve this, I switched to a paperless solution using a Samsung Android tablet with an S Pen. Unlike regular styluses with fat, rubbery tips that obscure your writing and lack precision, the S Pen uses a radio signal, allowing me to rest my hand on the screen without interference, making it ideal for filling out PDF work orders in real time.
For software, I use the free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader—no subscription needed. I open PDF work orders (downloaded from platforms or clients), skip the sign-in prompts, and use the "draw" tool with the S Pen to write, check boxes, or circle items. I adjust ink color and thickness for clarity, zoom in with two-finger navigation to avoid accidental marks, and fill out details like store numbers or start times effortlessly. The S Pen’s precision beats using a finger, which is awkward and imprecise.
For Word docs, I convert them to PDFs using the "Save as PDF" print option, then edit them the same way. After completing the work order, I save changes with the checkmark, zoom in for customer signatures, and upload directly via the share button (e.g., email, Drive) or to platforms like Field Nation. If a platform only accepts images, I screenshot the PDF as a workaround. Some buyers provide PDFs but restrict uploads to images, which is frustrating but manageable.
