Lord, please enlighten my soul so that I may know how to do what pleases You

Lord, as I sit quietly in this still moment, I lift my heart to You with a sincere prayer: “Please enlighten my soul so that I may know how to do what pleases You.” Each day of my life is filled with choices — many paths, both great and small, that I must walk. Sometimes I know clearly what is right and good, yet my weakness keeps me from doing it. At times, I believe I am heading in the right direction, only to realize I have wandered astray amid the noise of the world. Therefore, more than ever, I need Your light — the light that guides, illuminates my soul, and leads me toward truth.

Lord, in this restless world, it is so easy to be swept away by illusions and forget what truly matters. I am often drawn by the allure of fame, gain, and fleeting pleasures that make me think I am happy, yet slowly dim the light within me. Please do not let me be blinded by those false lights. Shine upon me the true light — Your light — so that I may discern what is right, what is wrong, what pleases You, and what does not belong to You.

Lord Jesus, You are the Light of the world. You said, “I am the light of the world; whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” I believe in those words. I believe that only when I let You lead me can my soul find true peace. There were times when I relied on my own understanding, making choices based on my own will without praying for Your guidance. And in those moments, I strayed and did things that saddened You. Forgive me, Lord, and grant me a humble heart — one that seeks Your will before taking action.

Lord, teach me how to listen. Too often, You are speaking, but I do not hear You, because my heart is crowded with the noise of worries, ambitions, and fears. Please grant me inner silence, that I may hear Your voice — gentle yet powerful, the voice of love that leads me toward goodness. Give me the courage to respond to that call, even when it leads me down the narrow path — the path of sacrifice, yet the path of true peace.

There are times, Lord, when I know what pleases You, but my heart is weak. I know I should forgive, yet pride holds me back. I know I should help others, yet I hesitate, afraid of inconvenience. I know I should live truthfully, yet I choose silence out of fear. Lord, help me overcome those weaknesses. Enlighten me so that I may not only know what is good but have the strength to do it with love.

Remind me, Lord, that doing what pleases You is not about great deeds, but about living each day with sincerity, love, and humility. A kind word, a gentle act, a patient attitude, a forgiving heart — all these small things can bring You joy. Teach me to see meaning in the ordinary, so that I may know that even in my daily work and simple duties, I can glorify You.

Lord, please enlighten my heart when I face choices. In times of confusion, show me the right path. In moments of doubt, strengthen my faith. In moments of discouragement, remind me that Your will is always good, even when I do not yet understand it. Help me to trust that everything You arrange has a purpose — to teach me something, to help me grow in love and faith.

Lord, let me recognize You in every person I meet today. When I see someone suffering, may I see the image of You in Your Passion, and be moved with compassion. When I meet someone joyful, let me give thanks with them for that joy. When I encounter someone who hurts me, let me see them with Your eyes — eyes of forgiveness and mercy.

Help me to live according to Your will, not my own. For my will is often guided by selfishness, while Yours is full of love and wisdom. Teach me to respond like Mary did: “Be it done unto me according to Your word.” That is the most perfect response — the beginning of all blessings.

Lord, in everything I do today — from the smallest task to the greatest decision — help me to ask myself, “Does this please the Lord?” If the answer is “yes,” grant me the courage to act. If the answer is “no,” grant me the wisdom to stop, so that I may not wound You, nor harm my own soul.

Finally, Lord, I surrender my whole heart to You. May Your light always shine within me — so that I may not wander in the darkness of selfishness, fear, or doubt. Help me to live this day in peace, with a heart turned toward You, and a soul ready to love and to serve.

Lord, please enlighten my soul so that I may know how to do what pleases You.
May every word I speak, every act I perform, and every thought in my heart reflect Your love.
And when the day ends, may I look back in peace, knowing that I have lived this day fully in the light of God.
