At the end of my cold - time with Heather - and a caregiving Masterclass

This video starts around June 25th when I’m back in the saddle, visiting Heather and taking care of all the little things I can do to help her and the staff who take care of her, like adding a motion sensing light to her cupboard to make it easier to see her personal care items and clothes, and brushing and flossing her teeth when I’m there. I also describe a jaw dropping example of skill in caregiving that I witnessed one day. This stuff happens every day and it’s always so impressive. At home, things are so very quiet… some days I feel like I’ve forgotten what it’s like to hear another voice in the house. I feel so lonely these days, and I guess that’s just the way things will be going forward. I’ll adapt and come up with a routine with some social engagement, but losing my lifelong best friend is as hard as I thought it would be. Thank goodness for sweet little Penny!

BACKGROUND
Heather first started showing signs of memory issues in early 2021, and in October 2021 she received the diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia, which is a form of frontotemporal dementia. Her cognitive decline since then has been rapid and steady, as frequently happens with early onset dementia. Her mobility has degraded at the same time, making the situation even more challenging.
