Here is a video with a very ideal Werther ! Vanzo is Werther and Arrauzau is Charlotte. Both singers have wonderful voices and the style is very French. The quality of the video is not what we are used to today. It was made on a Betamax videorecorder in the beginning of homevideo sytems. So it is as good as possible!
The opera itself is a very dramatic one, so there is much passion in the music, impossible love and tears. I mention the famous tenor aria ; Pourqou me réveiller
and the the beautiful soprano aria : Va, laisse couler mes larmes. Both in the third act. Francine Arrauzau is not a big name, because she had a short career due to unhappy circumstances. She had a great healthy voice and was a passionate performer, unable to be dull !!! So here is much to enjoy , if that is the right word !?
