India 2047 Insights from the Skills & Education Panel at ROLBOL Youth Conclave. Sankalp Maheshwari

I had the immense privilege of moderating an insightful and forward-thinking panel discussion at the prestigious ROLBOL Community event in Raipur, focusing on the theme “Skills and Education for India (Bharat) 2047.” This event brought together thought leaders from various fields to discuss how India can prepare its workforce and education system to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as we aim for a transformative Bharat by 2047.

In my role as the moderator, I had the opportunity to steer an engaging conversation with four distinguished panelists, each of whom offered unique perspectives on the evolving landscape of education, skill development, and entrepreneurship in India.
The Panelists:

1. IAS Sonmoni Borah – Principal Secretary, ST SC OBC Minority Welfare, Chhattisgarh Govt.: With his vast experience in public administration, Mr. Borah brought to light the importance of inclusive skill development, especially for marginalized communities.
2. Abhishek Agrawal – Chancellor, Anjaneya University: Mr. Agrawal provided a comprehensive view of the future of higher education in India, emphasizing the urgent need to balance academic rigor with practical, skill-based learning.
3. Dr. NV Ramana Rao – Director, NIT Raipur: A leading voice in technical education, Dr. Rao stressed the significance of preparing engineers not only as subject matter experts but as future entrepreneurs.
4. Namrata Guglani – Head of VLCC Beauty School: As an advocate for vocational and skill-based education, Ms. Guglani shed light on the growing demand for specialized skills in beauty, wellness, and other industries.

The Discussion:
The session delved into several critical areas, including:

• The future of skill development in India and how it needs to align with industry requirements and global trends.
• The integration of entrepreneurial education within the curriculum to foster a mindset of innovation and leadership among students.
• The role of technology and automation in reshaping jobs, and how educational institutions can prepare students for a world dominated by AI, ML, and other technological advancements.
• The revival of India’s Gurukul tradition, emphasizing discipline, respect, and holistic education as key components for building character alongside academic and professional success.

This was a monumental opportunity to engage with such forward-thinking leaders and contribute to a vision for India 2047—one where education, entrepreneurship, and innovation take center stage in building a skilled and prosperous nation.

I am incredibly grateful to have been part of this important dialogue and look forward to seeing the impact of these discussions in shaping India’s future.
