Taipan Mk3 2,5 diesel..another great Taipan

Taipan...a deadly Australian snake...but also a world famous model engine range..from "Down under" .Made by the master engine builder him self...Gordon Burford.
Found on Ebay Australia not only this engine,but also a new friend.Ken sold it on Ebay and I was lucky to win it for a decent price...but as always,I must put some work in it...and the result was worth it..a great MK 3 from 1958. One of the most powerfull 2,5 plain bearing diesels in its days....and for sure of the Taipans.... aprox. 0,30 HP !!!
There was how ever one issue,that worry me.The thread in the carter was far to lose..so I was worry a lot,it wount hold on and come of in the run...after several attempts,I manage to use ultra thin alu foil,form it in the shape of the tread,and secure very care full with Locktite..gently srew the liner in.After it harden,I could firm tighten the cylinder without any problems.
The piston seal not well,so I use a acetylen burner to heat it up to cherry red,and let it cool down very slowly.This trick expand cast iron a few thousends of a milimeter,so a bit lapping and polishing the liner end up with great compression again. I give the MK 3 a new needle roller bearing as wrist pin,and all was perfecto! As Ken,who sold the engine on E-bay was very clear about it,that when hot,it leaks compression...one of the very few honest E-bay sellers!
Than as seen,I copy from the pictures in the fantastic book the org. NVA, and as last I anodize the head..and as only Taipan engine..a anodize as well the prop driver.All other Burford engines have a plain alu prop drive plate.
With the book about the Taipan engines and all Burford motors he made,I could make it almost as new again.A great thanks to Maris Dislers with all his help also on my MK 7 as
