Soft Plastic Stickbaits and Additives for Plastisol

In this video I'm making soft plastic stickbaits and comparing the results of baits made with salt and glass bead media (GBM). I also go over a few other additives that are used with soft plastisol.

The video didn't pick up the difference in the bait colors as well as I had hoped. The video just doesn't do the baits justice. there is a very noticeable difference between the baits made using salt as a sinking additive verses the baits using GBM as a sinking additive.

Plastic will not bond with salt. The result is a bait that isn't as durable as it is when using GBM as a sinking additive.

Using salt as a sinking additive also clouds the color of your baits meaning you have to use more colorant to achieve the desired result. Using GBM allows you to make baits that are more vibrant and even translucent. Your baits will have "depth". Meaning you can actually see flake in the interior of the bait instead of just on the surface of the bait which is what you get when using salt.

The benefits of using GBM over salt are huge! You can make a clearer, softer, more vibrant bait that is more durable and has even more action tan a bait made using salt as a sinking additive.

Again...These materials are hot and you can burn yourself. Exercise whatever precautions you deem necessary to protect yourself.

Glass bead media will scratch your injector. I've shot thousands of baits with GBM and my injector has scratches from it, but so far they are just cosmetic and the function hasn't been affected yet.
