This is the final Carbon Clinic before the ACAN summer break!

ACAN! Carbon Clinics is a knowledge-sharing campaign run by ACAN!’s Embodied Carbon Group. This series of events aims to provide practical insights from industry experts and to facilitate discussions on the challenges and opportunities of adopting Whole Life Cycle Assessments (WLCAs) in the built environment.

This session: Whole Life Cycle Assessment Tools in Practice

Following on from our previous clinic which featured a whistlestop tour of the Life Cycle Assessment calculators most utilised in the UK's built environment, this session will explore how these tools are being used in practice.

Join us for a relaxed discussion with colleagues who are actively using these tools in their projects.

You'll gain insight into:

How they’ve integrated LCA tools into their workflows;
How easy, or challenging these tools are to use;
What’s working well and where there's room for improvement;
How LCA tools can help inform design decisions;

Recommended training ahead of the session

To get the most out of these embodied carbon sessions, it's helpful to have some background on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) theory, including an understanding of life cycle modules, functional units, system boundaries, environmental impact categories, and data sources (e.g., Environmental Product Declarations).

We recommend watching Construction Carbon’s Lifecycle Carbon Assessment (LCA) Foundation Training course before attending the webinars to maximise your learning. This free learning resource, now managed by CIBSE, offers six modules and additional certification opportunities. You can watch the modules independently or register through CIBSE for the full training, which includes a virtual webinar, an assessment quiz (minimum pass rate required), and a certificate.
