"Yeah, that's really important with us obviously because we love dogs and we don't want them to be stressed or anything like that. So we've got a vet over there. We've got a dog behaviorist that trains dogs every Sunday at our surf school to be stress-free on a board. So they're all trained and, you know, it's safe."

"We keep an eye on the dogs, if they look nervous, if they looks stressed, we will automatically say, let's take them away from it. We don't want them to get stressed, upset, or hurt themselves. So yeah, I'm here to make sure the welfare, like, mentally, is good."

STORYLINE:

A whippet called Margo and her owner won the UK's Dog Surf Championships in Dorset, south-west England, on Sunday afternoon.

After two hotly-contested semi-finals, Margo triumphed alongside her human, Carl Barnes.

Canine athletes also broke three world records at the event, including fastest 50-metre sprint on a paddleboard, won by Matthew Jenkins with Gigi and Ben Grey with Boo, in a time of 32 seconds. Jenkins declared himself "speechless."

The dogs and their owners at Branksome Dene Chine Beach also smashed official world records for the number of dogs taking part in the 50-metre paddleboard race, plus the most dogs on a giant paddleboard.

The results were announced by Guinness World Records official Pravin Patel.
