The illustrious luna moth is among one of our most common and beautiful silk moths here in the United States. These beautiful moths, like the vast majority of the silk moths, lead fleeting adult lives as they lack the means to procure food and nourish themselves as moths. Their one and only job as adults is to mate and ensure that they do their part to continue through their offspring! These luna moths also possess long tails as an adaptation to help prevent hungry bats from targeting their soft and nutritious bodies! Have you seen a luna moth before? Let me know in the comments!
