Day trip to Fiskebäckskil & Lysekil from Gothenburg, Sweden | Skaftö - Bohuslän

Fiskebäckskil & Lysekil are located on Sweden's Bohuslän coast in West Sweden. For anyone visiting Gothenburg (Göteborg in Swedish) in summer, a day trip to the bohuslän coast is a must. The Bohuslän archipelago is dotted with many gorgeous island towns and fisherman villages. Fiskebäckskil is one such hidden gem (smultronstället as they are called in Swedish). Strolling along the beautiful flower filled streets and alleys is a must, especially the main street Kaptensgatan. During summer, the entire village is blooming with color full rose gardens in the houses along the street. Down on the water line there are small boat houses facing the sea. Between the Kaptensgatan street and the boat houses, there are plenty of alleys to explore.


The town of Lysekil is situated right across the sea from Fiskebäckskil. One can easily see the grand facade of the Lysekil's Church from across the water. There is a ferry that runs frequently between Lysekil & Fiskebäckskil and only takes around 10 minutes for the trip. I definitely recommend taking that ferry and enjoy the views of both towns from the water. There are plenty of activities and things to do in Lysekil as well, including the Lookout tower, stadsparken, Stångehuvud nature reserve and many bathing & swimming spots.


Both towns are easily accessible by car as many island towns in Bohuslän are either connected with bridges or there are free car ferry crossings available. So I recommend to visit one of these towns on your road trip and then take the ferry to visit the other.
