A Refuge From the World in an Urban Oasis | The Sanctuary House

The Sanctuary is a modern home located in Northern California, designed to harmonize seamlessly with the surrounding natural landscape. Elevated on piers to protect the roots of the site’s old-growth trees, the residence combines rectilinear volumes and indoor spaces connected to courtyards and gardens, creating a strong connection to the outdoors. The use of natural materials, such as board-formed concrete and golden-hued cedar, adds a sense of calm and serenity to the interior. With large windows and sliding glass panels, the house allows abundant natural light to flood in, highlighting neutral tones and minimalist decor.
