You would never know that baby Maddox had been born with a congenital heart defect. At their 20 week ultrasound appointment, Ashley and Zach received some difficult news. They learned that their baby had a rare congenital heart defect, called Tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia. In his first week of life, Maddox underwent a PDA stent procedure, a minimally invasive treatment for babies with his condition, and at only two months old, Maddox underwent his full surgical repair.
Thanks to the dedicated care team at MaineHealth, Zach and Ashley were able to ensure Maddox received the highest level of care, while still maintaining some level of normalcy for their three older children.
