Difference between 'J'avais' and 'J'ai eu' (हिंदी lesson)

What is the French translation of 'I had a car'?

'J'ai eu une voiture' or 'J'avais une voiture'?
In fact both these translations are correct. But there is subtle difference in their meanings.

'J'avais' is used to speak about possessions, happenings or events in general parts, usally a long-term habit or experience.

For example, 'J'avais une voiture' means 'I had a car', but more precisely, it means, 'I used to have/own a car'.

'J'avais un directeur strict au collège' means 'I had a strict principal in my college'. But to be precise, 'I used to have a strict principal in my college'
