Starfield has been one of the most divisive Bethesda RPGs in recent memory. When it first launched in 2023, it promised “Skyrim in space,” and as a day-one player I was completely hooked — but the hype didn’t last forever. In this video, I revisit Starfield after months away to break down what worked, what didn’t, and whether there’s actually a future for Bethesda’s biggest new IP in decades.
I cover my personal experiences as a launch-day player, my thoughts on the base game, the Shattered Space DLC, the highs and lows of combat, exploration, ship-building, base-building, and quest design — and I also take a close look at the current state of the game. While Starfield’s player counts may be low, interest around the game hasn’t disappeared, and Bethesda seems determined to push forward with expansions, updates, and hopefully, some bold new content.
This isn’t blind praise or mindless hate — it’s an honest reflection on Starfield’s journey so far. I’ll share the reasons I loved it at launch, the frustrations that pushed me away, and the signs of hope that could still make Starfield worth defending in 2025.
If you’re wondering whether Starfield is worth playing, what went wrong with its first DLC, or if Bethesda can turn things around, this is the video for you.
